Fillet of Black Cod with Soy, Lime & Sesame

Ingredients

4 x 150–180g black cod fillets

4 tbsp light soy sauce

Juice and finely grated zest of 1 lime

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp vegetable oil

1 tsp runny honey

1 tsp finely grated fresh ginger

1 tbsp sesame seeds

2 spring onions, finely sliced

1 lime, cut into wedges, to serve

Instructions

  1. Mix the soy sauce, lime juice and zest, sesame oil, vegetable oil, honey and ginger together in a shallow dish.

  2. Mix the soy sauce, lime juice and zest, sesame oil, vegetable oil, honey and ginger together in a shallow dish.

  3. Preheat the oven to 200°C / 180°C fan / Gas 6.

  4. Remove the black cod from the marinade and place on a lined baking tray, skin-side down. Spoon a little of the marinade over each fillet.

  5. Bake for 10–12 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish, until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily.

  6. Meanwhile, toast the sesame seeds in a dry frying pan for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.

  7. Finish the black cod with the toasted sesame seeds and sliced spring onions. Serve immediately with lime wedges.
