A highly sustainable shellfish, we source our delicious live mussels from a family run producer in the Teign estuary, Devon. These quality mussels come packaged in specially sealed trays (please read care instructions below) to keep them as fresh as possible and allow a drip free product with easy storage.
Please note, due to many different factors such as bad weather conditions, seasonality and unprecedented demand. Mussels may be replaced from a different source.
Fresh Mussels are a great source of important vitamins. Their levels of iron and folic acid is comparable to that of red meat. Mussels are also a rich source of zinc.
- Large Mussels, juicy and plump
- The Mussels are debearded (debyssed) and ready for cooking
- This 1kg pack will happily serve 2 plus
- Delicious steamed with a classic Moules Marinière sauce and served with crusty bread or French fries.
- We recommend planning to consume your Mussels as soon as possible after delivery
As a live fresh product, it is best to consume within 2 days of delivery (the fresher the better). Please store in the refrigerator, do not freeze the product.
Instructions upon delivery: After opening the packet, some mussels may appear open and assumed dead. However, this is usually not the case and is quite common with MAP pack live shellfish. Fully submerge the mussels in cold clean tap water for a few minutes. Then drain and discard any broken mussels or mussels that remain wide open (it is normal for MAP packed mussels to remain slightly open and not respond much when tapped or squeezed). Once opened and briefly left to air, the mussels should smell fresh with no unpleasant or strong odours.
Our mussels are a fresh live product, so please store in the fridge on arrival do not freeze.

At The Wright Brothers Ltd, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality seafood while prioritising sustainability and environmental responsibility. We closely monitor the guidelines to ensure that our sourcing practices are as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible.
Whenever available, we prioritise sourcing our fish from day boats, supporting local fishermen who use low-impact fishing methods. This approach not only guarantees the freshest catch but also minimises our environmental footprint.
We also recognise seasonal and regional catch opportunities and often for lesser-known species, that although not always viable for the larger boats, represent an important part of local fishing community sustainability for the smaller vessels.
We are committed to continuously reviewing and improving our sourcing practices to protect our oceans and ensure a sustainable future for seafood. Thank you for supporting our mission to make responsible choices.
