Our adventure commenced with a gracious welcome in Gran Canaria. Following a swift airport pickup, we found ourselves in the lap of luxury at the Hotel NH Imperial Playa. It was here that we had the privilege of meeting Tania and Pedro, the visionary minds we work with behind Aquanaria.

Our journey began at Sorondongo Restaurant, where we indulged in the exquisite Vegueta Menu. Little did we know that this was just a glimpse of the seafood wonders that awaited us.
 
We had the restaurant exclusively booked for the evening, with a long table reserved just for us. It was a treat, the service and food were impeccable. Course after course was thoughtfully paired with the perfect wine. After our delightful meal, we took a leisurely stroll to explore the beauty of the town at night and learnt all about the rich history it has to offer.

 

Into the Heart of Aquanaria

On the second day, we woke up bright and early to explore Aquanaria's operations. Our day commenced with a visit to the packaging room, a place where quality control reigns supreme. We learned that Aquanaria pens are 98% water and 2% fish and they also employ tasting panels on the farm to ensure only the very best sea bass make it to your plate.
 
Next, we were treated to a comprehensive presentation and an in-depth tour of the packaging process, it was a crucial part of our visit, allowing us to gain valuable insights into the processes and values that make Aquanaria a trusted sea bass supplier for Wright Brothers Wholesale. This behind the scenes look illuminated the dedication and expertise that go into every aspect of Aquanaria's operations and anchored all the reasons as to why this partnership is so important to us.

The Nurseries

Our journey then took us to the port of Castillo del Romeral, where we explored the nurseries. Here, we witnessed firsthand the meticulous care and attention given to nurturing this exceptional sea bass.
 
Whilst offshore on the boat, we even had the incredible opportunity to spot hammerhead sharks during our visit! With the nursery located in the strong currents of the Atlantic Ocean, these deep, clean and crystalline waters make the perfect surroundings for sea bass. This is one of the most exposed areas in the world where aquaculture is practised.

The sun was shining, and we couldn't help but feel incredibly fortunate. Moments like these become cherished memories, reminding us of the incredible adventures that working for the Wright Brothers can bring. We couldn't stop talking about how the boat trip would remain a memory we'd cherish for a lifetime. We felt truly grateful.

A highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the Aquanaria sea bass-themed meal at Ceniza Restaurant in Maspalomas. The restaurant works with the best local ingredients, carefully selected by their team. They embody the fusion of seafood and fire, taking gastronomy to the next level with every ember. This menu featured sea bass in all its glory, showcasing its remarkable qualities - substantial size, firm texture, and intense flavour from raw sashimi grade to expertly grilled, we were truly astonished by the versatility of this exceptional product.
